<p>McCarthy, Gorden - October 18, 1931 – September 14, 2020</p><p><br></p><p>Our beloved husband, Dad and Pops passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on September 14, 2020, surrounded by his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Gord was a loving husband, exceptional Dad, and dedicated family man, a true friend with a giving heart, and mentor to many.</p><p><br></p><p>In order to provide for his family, Gord started his career as a young and ambitious man, working as general labourer and, with his passion for learning and his incredible people skills, built a successful construction company. As our family grew, Gord and Joyce built our family cottage on Belmont Lake, which provided our family with an outstanding place to gather and thrive, as well as form lifelong friendships and family connections. Belmont Lake was Gord’s favourite place in the world, and it will continue as our favourite for generations.</p><p><br></p><p>Gord is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joyce; his four children, Gary (Debbie), Brenda (Tom), Craig, Cheryl; six grandchildren, Shannon Taylor, Allen Taylor (Danielle), Christine McCarthy-Howe (Kevin), Garrett McCarthy, Greg Hart (Alison), Brad Hart; and seven great grandchildren, Jeremy, Hudson, Avery, Marin, Bridget, Rhys, Everleigh.</p><p><br></p><p>Gord will be forever cherished in our hearts. So many wonderful memories of special places and people on Belmont Lake, Cherry Valley, Picton, Cobourg, Campbellford and Cherrywood.</p><p><br></p><p>Private family arrangements have been made.
