Jerry Laurie Baldwin Obituary

BALDWIN, Jerry Jerry Laurie Baldwin, aka Indie, born Jan. 25, 1948 in Cleveland, left this world peacefully on Jan. 7, 2021 for his final road trip. He was 73 years old. Son of the late Helen Doris Markuma Baldwin, Frank Laurie and Frank Baldwin Calling Peterborough home, he lived his life like a shot in eight-ball pool: present, clever, focused and most of all, fun. His wife, best friend, soulmate, lover and business partner Sofie Andreou, filled his days with adventure and laughter. His three incredible children: Tyler (who landed wife Renée), Travis and Kaily will carry on his legacy and spirit for as long as there is air in their lungs to tell stories about him. He raised them with his friend and ex-wife Lee-Anne Stack. And finally, he was able to spoil his granddaughters, Ryleigh and Teaghan, and absolutely loved watching them grow and learn. Everyone who met Jerry knew that he understood the value of life and how to find joy. Whether travelling, playing pool, coaching baseball, camping with VW bus folks, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, he always generously gave his time, knowledge, money and heart. He approached every situation with honesty and inclusivity to all. He knew the importance of stepping outside the box and daring to dream big and was ready to help anyone bold enough to take that first step toward a new adventure. His loving sister-in-law, Nancy Baldwin, might agree that he was born as stubborn as his identical twin, Frank Laurie Baldwin, who has been waiting for him. Hosted by Ashburnham Funeral Home, please join Jerry’s family for a virtual Birthday Celebration of Life, on his actual birthday, January 25, 2021 at 2pm. Please go to ashburnhamfuneral.ca and register for the livestream virtual birthday party. In honour of Jerry’s love for pool, the family has initiated a Jerry Baldwin Pool Memorial Fund, which will be presented to players in the Peterborough pool league. Awards will be annually given in his name for Most Improved or Sportsmanship Conduct, two ideals he cared deeply about. As anyone who had the pleasure of playing pool with Jerry knows, he was always ready to help others improve their game. To make a donation to the Jerry Baldwin Pool Memorial Fund please visit www.sofieandreou.com/jerrybaldwin, where his wife Sofie will secure the raised funds in trust until league play resumes. Thank you in advance for helping his spirit live on. Jerry leaves us with memories of good laughs and life lessons to carry forward. May we all do our best to honour them and live a better life for having known him."
