Jill Garland Wilson Obituary

Obituary of Jill Garland Wilson WILSON, Jill - On the afternoon of September 26th, 2019, Jill Garland Wilson (nee Dearlove) of Huntsville,Ontario(recently relocated to Peterborough), passed away at the age of 65 after a challenging battle withMultiple Sclerosis and Leukemia. Jill was born in Scarborough,Ontarioin 1954 to Jack and Patricia Dearlove.Sheattended college in Toronto andgraduated asa Medical Laboratory Technologist where she embarked on a promising career, earning positions at Peel Memorial Hospital and Canadian Medical Laboratories. In 1974 she married a man who would become her lifelong companion, confidant, husband, and loving care provider, Jamie Wilson. Together Jill and Jamie started their family in Brampton, raising theirtwosons Christopher and Kevin. It was then, withtwoyoung boys at home, that Jill made the difficult decision to abandon her expanding career prospects for the challenging andselflessposition of Stay At Home Mom, dedicating 100% of her time, focus, and wisdom into raising her sons and keeping a household running. In 1989 Jill and Jamie uprooted their young family and embarked on alife-changingentrepreneurial adventure in Huntsville as co-owners of Ox-Bow Lodge, alongside Jill’s brotherDavid Dearlove, his wife Dianne and their young family. This is where Jill’s sons spent most of their formative years, embarking on adventures in the woods, fishing off the point, and shoveling Olympic sized hockey rinks on the lake. For all the challenges faced and sacrifices made, together Jill and Jamie provided an amazing landscape and unbelievably stable foundation for their family, and it’s a place they continue to hold in their hearts as home. In 1998 Jill was diagnosed withMultiple Sclerosisandhasfought every day since to maintain as much of her independence and mobility as possible. Through the years of battling, she has given everyone in her family and close circle of friends a praiseworthy example of how courageous, strong, and resilient one woman can be. An unwavering moral compass, a voice of reason, an ear to vent to, and an unmistakable laugh were some of the traits and uniquely genuine qualities Jill brought into the lives of everyone who got to know her. What Jill enjoyed most was just to be surrounded by allher grandchildren. The laughter, stories, excitement… and occasional tears… are what filled her heart and kept her fighting so tenaciously for so long, all the while staying technologically aware and ‘hip’ enough to video chat with her grandkids, touse her phone handsfree in the car (even though she didn’t need to!), ortocall upon Alexa to deliver the latest news and weather forecasts. Jill was preceded in death by her father, JackDearlove, and her mother, Patricia. She is survived by her husband Jamie, their sons Christopher(Sarah)and Kevin(Allison), her brother David(Dianne), hersixbeautiful grandchildren Ava, Paige, Liam, Sadie, Hannah, and Piper,as well as aclose-knit network of in-laws,her dear nieces and nephews, and several beloved cousins.
