Obituary of John Allen Caldwell Caldwell, John Allen "Joe" – Born June 3, 1927, he passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, November 7th in his 91st year. A life well lived. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years Ruth (Dumas) son Scott (Terri Phillips) of Ridgeway Ontario, grandchildren Liam of St. Gabriel QC, Samantha (Nathan Schmidt) of Chilliwack BC and great grandson Colton. Cherished brother of Janie Alkenbrack, Bruce Caldwell (Lois), Neil Harrington (Pat) and Bill Caldwell. Predeceased by sisters Barbara, Susan (Allan Sinclair) and brother Patrick Harrington. Much loved by their extended family Kirk & Kathy Doughty and their girls, Nicole, Christina, Katie and many nieces and nephews. Joe retired from A&P in 1992 after many years' service, starting in Napanee then moving to Bowmanville, Port Hope, Lindsay and finally Peterborough. It was in retirement that he and Ruth moved to the village of Warsaw. The bulk of their retirement years were spent in the company of the many wonderful friends they gathered in the townships of Dummer and Duro. Joe obtained his private pilot licence in 1958 and enjoyed flying above all his other hobbies and interests; from scuba diving, skating, running and horsemanship. Joe had competed and won several blue ribbons in dressage with his trusty mount Pete. Always the marksman, Joe enjoyed his time hunting at "the camp" in Kaladar with his and school chums. Joe loved the peace of the back country and made many trips into Algonquin Park over the years canoeing and fishing. Following Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place, with a celebration of life to take place at a later date.
