John KATES

Obituary of John KATES KATES: John Gordon Peacefully with courage but great reluctance in the early hours of Saturday, December 15, 2007 with his family by his side. He was in his 77th year and leaves behind his deeply devoted wife of over 51 years and loyal best friend Mary (nee Saunders) and his children Catherine (Douglas) and Paul (Anne). ?Papa? was much loved and will be very much missed by his two cherished grand-daughters Sonia and Emily. Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1931 to the late Sidney and Gladys Kates, he is predeceased by his brother Donald and younger sister Evelyn and survived by his older sister Doreen. We extend sincere thanks for the compassionate care provided by the nurses of 2 West, Hospital Drive, the 3rd Floor I.P.U., and during Dad's final stages by the nurses of 4D P.R.H.C. Rogers Street. At Gordon's request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Cremation has taken place and a spring interment in planned. Though it is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss, we express thanks and appreciation for the privilege of knowing and loving such a principled man.
