Obituary of Margaret Marie Morgan Margaret Marie Morgan (nee Rutter), in her 88th year, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, with her only child Cindy Ellen at her side. Margaret was born in Toronto, where she lived and worked as a Bell Telephone operator and with some advertising firms. She met William Edward Morgan when he arrived in Canada after the war; they married in 1953 and honeymooned in Niagara Falls the weekend of Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation. The Morgans moved further and further east as Toronto expanded, and after Bill’s retirement from IBM they moved to Bobcaygeon and ultimately Peterborough. Margaret had diverse interests and hobbies, including singing with a glee club, gardening, decorative painting, baking (a friend wrote a poem about her Lemon Meringue Pie!), and crossword puzzles. She loved to be busy and loved people. Both Marg and Bill felt that making other people’s days brighter was vital. Margaret is survived by her daughter Cindy Ellen (and husband Roy Hagman), her sister Jean Porrill, brother William, and their extended families, including her favourite niece Kay (Porrill) Hurren, who was born on her birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and brother Harry. Respecting her wishes, no funeral or service was held. The family would like to thank most heartfully the Peterborough Palliative Care Team, the Central East LHIN, and the nursing staff from St. Elizabeth who helped in Margaret’s final days.
