<p>Obituary of Newton Henry Downer</p><p> DOWNER, Newton Henry "Newt" – Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Friday June 9, 2017. Newt of Peterborough in his 71st year. Dear father of Jeff (Blanca) of Peterborough and Phillip (Gnevieve Hebert) of Ottawa. Loving grandfather of Ashley, Cameron, and Annabelle. Brother of Barb, Marg (Collin Ganagan), Dave (Linda), Janet (Dan Wall), Becky Kinnell, Phil (Theresa) and the late Bob, Dorothy, Will (late Mary), Ben (Donna), and Pat (Gord). Newton will be remembered by Elly Downer and Judy Pilz, step-sons Jamie Brignall of Calgary and J.L Brignall of Havelock and many other relatives and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>A 'jack-of-all-trades', Newt worked at a lumber mill, lumber yard, driving taxi, turning scrap into dollars and once retired was a yard sale junkie. He was a quiet man who didn't want too much out of life materialistically, but was content with what he had, and happiest when with his grandkids. </p><p><br></p><p>Memorial visiting will be held at the Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, on Friday, June 16, from 1-4 pm with a service and words of remembrance at 2 pm. </p><p><br></p><p>Donations to the War Amps or the Salvation Army, and condolence messages may be made at the funeral home website: www.AshburnhamFuneral.ca.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p> To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Newton Downer, please visit Tribute Store</p>
