Obituary of Peter Koeslag It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Koeslag, beloved husband of Carol Beamish Koeslag announces his death on Tuesday, December 15th at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. A loving and supportive father of Rick (Bev), Paul (Linda), Ron (Bev), David (Sherren) Terry (Jeanette). Dearly loved and admired by step-sons George (Line), David (Nancy), Stephen (Deborah), Rod (Sue) Thwaites. Proud grandfather of Erin, Greg, Jennifer, Ashleigh, Heather, Jessica, Michelle, Serreh, Adam, Hayley, Andrew, Tabitha, Erica, Aydan Koeslag and Matt, Bryan, Shelby, Jenelle, Trevor, Maxime, Sebastien, Jayden Thwaites and Derrick Alexander. Predeceased by Michael Thwaites. Predeceased by his parents Margaret Hendry and Johann Koeslag and brother Robert. Peter was the loving brother of Mary (Austin) Moss, Emily (Alan) Menzies, Jim (Patti) Koeslag and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Perth, Ontario on the Scotch Line, Peter left as a young man to join the RCAF, spending over twenty years in an environment he loved. Due to family reasons he retired in 1971, was employed at Sears Canada then at Durham College, Oshawa as Heating and air conditioning manager. After moving to Peterborough in 1991 he retired from Durham. Always his first love was anything to do with aeronautics, second was his life long interest in water power. He was an extremely multi-skilled and innovative craftsman who always loved the challenge of creating in wood or metal. Peter enjoyed his membership in the Whitby Rotary choir and club; then in Peterborough Rotary Club (Paul Harris recipient 2005). His many volunteer activities whether restoration/repairing at Hutchison House museum, building at St. Pauls Presbyterian and then St. Johns Anglican Church; serving breakfast to school children; restoring the water powered Hope Saw Mill, on the Board of Camp Kawartha; Peter always had time to help others and will be remembered for his caring ways. The friendships he made in all his capacities were extremely important to him. A very special person who will be greatly missed by many! Visitation for Peter will be held at Ashburnham Chapel, 840 Armour Road on Thursday, December 17 from 6:30 - 9:00 PM with a funeral service to be held on Friday, December 18th at 1:30 pm with visitation one hour prior to service.
