Stephanie Elizabeth Henderson Obituary

Obituary of Stephanie Elizabeth Henderson HENDERSON, Stephanie Elizabeth: May 5, 1948-March 9, 2017. We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Stephanie Henderson (nee Flynn). Born and raised in Waterloo, Stephanie first moved to the Bancroft area more than forty years ago. A dynamic, dedicated and active member of the community, Stephanie was known for her infectious smile, her tremendous compassion for people and animals, her countless hours of volunteer work, her love and talent for gardening, her commitment to family and friendship, her fabulous sense of fashion, her cozy and welcoming home, and her ever glowing heart and joie de vie. Wishing to be closer to family, Stephanie moved and the end of last summer to Peterborough. Upon finding her “most favourite house yet”, a century home on the Otonabee River, Stephanie was excited and enthusiastic for her new chapter in life. She was also looking forward to spending much more time with her darling grandsons. It was this past December that Stephanie started to feel not quite her usual and energetic self. Almost two months later, she was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer and immediately was admitted to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. It was here that she received the most incredible, attentive and compassionate care by the hospital’s palliative care team. We are so grateful to all of the amazing doctors and nurses who looked after her, as well as to all of those who sent cards, emails, flowers, food, poetry, songs and words of love during her time in hospital. Stephanie is predeceased by her mother Beryl, her father Hilliard, her brother Jerry and her husband, the love of her life, Robert Henderson. She is survived by her eldest daughter Eryn, her youngest daughter Meaghan (Mark), her grandsons Milo and Julian, her sisters Pamela and Jennifer, as well as her many dear friends in Bancroft and beyond. Following Stephanie’s wishes, we will not be organizing a funeral. Instead, she wanted us to throw a great party. In her honour, we will host a celebration of life on Saturday April 29th, from 2-5 pm at the Bancroft Village Playhouse, 5 Hastings Street South, Bancroft. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Home Again (animal rescue): homeagainbancroft.ca, 613 332 5253, or to Hospice North Hastings: hospicenorthhastings.com (613) 332-8014.
