Thomas Patrick Belanger

Obituary of Thomas Patrick Belanger Carpenter's Soul © Michael C. Belanger 1999 No beast in me you'll find I fear I have only a carpenter's soul Hands work worn, scarred in nicks and cuts and slivers. The patient hands of mastery, extracting from the plank, the finished piece worked smooth, polished clean. The eye for truth and true, the measure of full square and perfect aspect. Hair touched white with dust and wisdom, of pine and oak and maple, The gentle persuasion of manner that induces beauty from the wood, as a lover's touch induces the trembling heart. No, in me you'll find the craftsman, passion sure, but focused so upon the obligation to delivery beauty, from the work that obsesses. Wringing pleasure from each simple grain revealed….. Passed on peacefully in his sleep in his 64th year, too soon by far for all those that loved him, including his wife Dianna and his parents Roland and Mary Belanger and his brother Robert, who all predeceased him. He leaves his children Ryan, and his wife Melissa Doyle, and Rayna and her wife Lisa Rogers, and his adopted daughter Torie Belanger, as well as grandchildren Abigail, Johnny and Roland. He also is survived by his brothers and sisters; James, Elizabeth (Dan Fisher), John (Janus), Margaret (Nick Rykers), William (Karen), Joseph (Darla), Michael, and Mary Louise (Mike Thompson). He is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews and hundreds of caring cousins, extended family and legions of friends. He will be missed for his calm manner, his wise counsel, his infectious laugh and the twinkle that was ever present in his eyes. Donations to Lakefield Animal Welfare would be appreciated.
