Obituary of Thomas Norman Reverend Thomas "Rex" Norman B.A., B.Div. Born November 9, 1919 in Pacquet Nfld. passed away in his 92nd year, quietly and peacefully with his family by his side, at Lakefield Extendicare on July 29, 2011. Predeceased by wives Doris (Frost), and Nancy (White), also by his Father James Henry Norman of the Horse Islands, Nfld. and Mother Minnie Florence (Butler) of Pacquet Nfld. Predeceased by brothers Sidney, Reginold, Edgar, Eric, Llewellyn, and sisters Daphne and Adelaide. Survived by brother Rev. Ken Norman (Shirley) from Belleville. Beloved Father of Brian Norman (Lynn), Bryce Norman (Jan), and Janice Norman, all of Peterborough. Loved and missed by Grandchildren Michael Norman (Emily), Leigh Norman, Katie Clarke (Jay), Becky Hill, Tara Davis (Chris), Deanna Norman, and Tracy Davis (Trevor) and Great Grandchildren Bradley and Jacob Davis, Kenzie and Lola Norman, Rachael, Dylan and Tyler Comeau/Davis. Rex is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews from Newfoundland and across Canada. Ordained as a United Church Minister, Rex served his Lord on the Coast of Labrador, and in Nfld. In Ontario he was the Minister at Knox St. United Church, and also in Ajax, Port Dalhousie, Yarker, Campbellford, Lombardy, and other Eastern Ontario congregations. Rex was also the District Secretary for the Canadian Bible Society, dedicated to the translation and distribution of Bibles wherever they are needed. He then served with Operation Eyesight Universal helping to provide the gift of sight in underdeveloped countries around the world An avid outdoorsman, Rex enjoyed the cottage he built on Sand Lake, and travelling each summer back to his beloved Newfoundland and reuniting with all his family there. He committed his life to his Family, to the Service of God, and helping those in need or distress. Rest in peace, you will be missed. Relatives and Friends will be received at COMMUNITYALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME 83 Hunter Street West, Peterborough on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from Mark Street United Church, 90 Hunter Street East on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11 am. Visitation one our prior.
