Obituary of Timothy Andrew McLaughlin McLAUGHLIN, Timothy Andrew - Tim was a devoted husband, beloved father, loving son, and brother, friend, and respected soccer and curling coach. He died March 26 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was 57. Tim was a Commercial Team Leader with (formerly GE Nuclear/GE-Hitachi Nuclear) BWXT in Peterborough, a job he held for 27 years. His passion was soccer, a game he played with flair as a young man, and later as a coach. He coached hundreds of young players In the Peterborough City Soccer Association and Peterborough Youth Soccer Club for over 19 years. Tim was also a current member of the PYSC Board of Directors and an active member of the Peterborough Curling Club. An accomplished student athlete, Tim also excelled at curling, golf, skiing, and hockey. Like his late father, he had a painful relationship with his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, a frailty he passed on to his children. But his greatest love, pride and joy was his family, especially his three sons, Cameron, Emery and Gordon, who he quietly and fervently supported in sports, academics, music and life in general. He grew up on the family farm in Flamborough building hay forts, climbing over fences, and falling out of trees. Tim was a graduate and former Head Boy of Hillfield-Strathallan College in Hamilton. He went on to study Commerce at Queens University. Loved ones left behind are his wife of 29 years, Leanne, sons Cameron, Emery and Gordon; mother, Barney Morison of Wolfville, Nova Scotia; sister, Amy, of Flamborough; brothers Peter (Marilyn) of Bedford, Nova Scotia and Richard, of Littleton, Mass. Also left to mourn are: Tim’s in-laws, Leo, Carolann, Tamara, Shane, Valerie, Vanita and Guillaume Fernandes, Jenny and Dave Winn and his closest and dearest friend, Richard Glanzmann, who was a pillar of strength and support through Tim's last few days. Tim is predeceased by his father, Andrew. Special thanks to Dr. Neera Jeyabalan, Dr. Michael Gibson, as well as his nurses Lori Wallace and Emily Mihok, and PSWs of St. Elizabeth Health Care who helped provide comfort in Tim's final hours. Additional thanks to Dr. Bruce Cameron, Dr. Steven O’Brien, and the staff of the Diabetes Education Centre. A celebration of Tim's life will be held at a later date.
