WELBOURNE, Ella ‘Florence’ (Curtis) – Peacefully, after a short illness, at St. Joseph’s at Fleming, on Friday, September 19, 2014. Florence of Peterborough, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of Grant for 62 years. Loving mother of Karen (Bill Bendall), Bill (Ruth Guthrie), Barbara (Bob Card), Susanne (Roger Couture) and Ken (Tracy). Dear Grandma of Brian Bendall (Natalie), Brenda (Ryan Seguire), Christopher Card, Bobbie-Jo Card (Chris Sunstrum), Katrina Card (Jerry Bresee), Jeffery Card, Roch and Luc Couture and Michael, Rachael, and Daniel Welbourne. Great-grandmother of Cassidy, Kennedy, Parker, Mackenzie, Mya, Jorja, Wesley and Tristen. Sister of Leona Martin, Alf Curtis (June) and the late Elsie Curtis, Walt Curtis (surviving wife Ollie), Pearl Herrod (Ernie) and Jean McCallum (Duncan). Dear sister-in-law of Bev (Doug Kennedy) and Bob Welbourn (late Karen). Florence will be remembered by many other relatives and friends.

Florence was known as a woman that enjoyed sharing a joke, working and keeping busy and loving people. Over the years she worked as a school board trustee, and worked at the Millbrook Correctional Centre, the Peterborough Jail, H&R Block, and retired from Revenue Canada. She also loved swimming with the Arthritis Society, enjoyed quilting and was an avid curler and bowler.

A private family service was held at Rosemount Memorial Gardens.

A reception to celebrate Florence’s life will be held at WESTDALE UNITED CHURCH, 1509 Sherbrooke Street, Peterborough, on Saturday, October 11, 2014, from 1 - 3 pm.
