Flora Mary Hart Obituary

Flora Hart (nee Davey)

The sons of Flora Hart are saddened to announce her peaceful passing on March 29, 2012 at the Peterborough Regional Hospital surrounded by family. She was born in Larchwood, ON to Peter and Jean Davey in 1923. Her childhood years were happily spent surrounded by love and adventures on "the farm"; a place to which she returned to take care of her ailing parents after her own children were grown.

She married the love of her life, Wilfred Hart, in 1941 and together they raised three fine, young men. She loved being a mother. She laughed and played with them and was their biggest supporter in whatever interest they had.

She was high spirited, energetic and looked for the best in people. She cultivated long lasting friendships in her 88 years and was still making new ones. She spoke kindly of the caregivers that were coming into her home these past few years and spoke of the lovely people at the corner store who would endearingly call her Grandma. Her wit and sense of humour touched so many people that she came across in her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She and her late husband, Wilfred Arthur Hart, were married for 67 years before he passed in May of 2008. Before he left he made sure to credit his wife for taking such good care of him to bring him to the age of 93. As fate would have it, Flora joined him in heaven on what would have been Wilf’s 97th birthday. One can only imagine the celebration that occurred when she reached him. As she said a few weeks earlier when she knew death was imminent, she would be "dancing on the clouds with Wilfred."

Loving mother of her three sons: James Richard of Peterborough, Carl Wilfred Daniel of Barrie and Donald Gilchrist of Burlington. Cherished by her 6 grandchildren: Stefphanie Leigh, daughter of James and Donna, Carissa and Craig, children of Carl and Christina, Alysha, Ashley and Matthew, children of Donald and Marlene. She will be missed by her 9 great-grandchildren: Riddick, Rowghan, Liam, Callum, Harrison, Ruby Flora, Mya, Hayden and Landen. If desired condolences to the family or donations to the Canadian Red Cross or Keene United Church may be made at www.CommunityAlternative.ca or by calling 705-742-1875.

A special thank you goes to Dr. Lakanathan, Dr. Syad, Laura from the Red Cross, Gail Heffernan and all of the palliative care nurses and doctors at PRHC, especially Bonnie, for their compassion and care.
