BALDWIN, Frank Laurie
Frank Baldwin, duct-tape handyman, revered family chef, seafood lover (despite his swollen-lip allergic reaction) and devoted family man, passed away December 17, 2013 in his 66th year. A man deeply loved by so many, Frank fought a very hard battle with cancer, yet he remained focused on the well-being of others. When he was informed that nothing more could be done, he chose to go quickly and quietly, so that he would not prolong the suffering of those closest to him.
A determined yet playful competitor, Frank needed to win at every game and argument. He always had to be the last man standing (the irony is not lost on us); though this was always done with fun, love, and a zest that made you want to come back and try it again.
Frank was adamant and firm that he didn’t want us to be sad or fuss over his death. He needed a commitment that we would remember him as he was at his best, and that we would celebrate his life. Most importantly, he wanted us to support and to always be there for each other. Advice he recently gave: “Believe in yourself and care for others, everything else will come.” That philosophy proved to be sound. Frank did care for others and in return many people loved and adored him, all while providing him with an unpredictable adventure.
Frank was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Scriver) for 23 years. Dear father of Frank Baldwin and Kim Simpson, and their spouses Malissa and Darrell. Loving Papa/Grandpa of Courtney, Chealsy, Frankie, Shyanne, Myer and Bentley. Brother and best friend of Jerry and spouse Sofie. Uncle to nieces and nephews who loved him and enjoyed giving him a hard time; Tyler & Renee, Travis, Kaily, Eric Kyle, and Shannon. Frank's beloved pets Lady, Joe and Molly will be lost in his absence.
Honouring Frank's wishes, a celebration of his life will take place on January 4, 2014 at 6:30 pm, upstairs at Riley’s Olde Towne Pub, where he played in a pool league for years. This celebration will bring love, laughter, memories and an opportunity to party together. We will toast this amazing life that we had the privilege to be a part of. He said we could be sad, but asked that we put those tears in our pockets – so please bring lots of fun and laughter. If you wish, memorial donations can be made to Camp Northern Lights, www.campnorthernlights.com
We take comfort in knowing that he is now with loved ones who have passed and that he is, of course, causing trouble, haunting people he knew, as promised. Watch out! We love you so much and forever Frank, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Uncle Frank and Honourable A-hole … "I am leaving, I am leaving but the fighter still remains.”
If desired, directions to the celebration, condolences to the family, or donations to Camp Northern Light, may be made at www.CommunityAlternative.ca or by calling COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME, ASHBURNHAM CHAPEL at 705-740-0444.
