HAYES: John Vernon “Jack” (Retired from the Peterborough City Police Department).

Peacefully, with his family by his side, on Sunday, February 14, 2010, after a brief illness at P.R.H.C., in his 83rd year. Reunited with his beloved wife Mary (1977) and son John (1976). Beloved father of Sheila and husband David Pugh of Port Franks; Jeannie and husband Bob Flagler; Ted; Katie and husband David Quigley, all of Peterborough; and Pat of Omemee. Loving Poppa of Jamie, Leah, Ryan (Lindsey) and DJ Hayes-Pugh; Jen Messenger (Mike), Scott, and Andrea Flagler; Jonathan and Tristin Quigley; and Ryan Hayes. Big-Poppa of Devin Hayes; and Alyssa, Matthew and Benjamin Messenger. Brother of Bill Hayes (Denise). Pre-deceased by his parents Cecil and Irene Hayes. Also pre-deceased by his second wife Julie (1998). Jack will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at the CATHEDRAL OF ST. PETER-IN-CHAINS, 411 Reid Street, Peterborough on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Jack's life, following the funeral, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Reid Street.
