<p>TANSLEY: Reverend Donald Edward</p><p>Peacefully, with his wife by his side, on Tuesday October 21, 2008, five days after his 94th birthday. Don, recently of Peterborough, was born near Shelburne, Ontario on October 16, 1914. A graduate of Victoria College 1942 and Emmanuel College 1944 of the University of Toronto, he and his wife Lena Margaret (nee Lacey) served the United Church of Canada in Nipigon, Scarborough, Brantford, Northminster in Peterborough, and retired from Centennial United Church, Oshawa in 1980. He continued as interim minister at Port Perry United. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, daughter Judith and her husband David Russ, grandsons Stephen Edward and David Andrew McCartney, his wife Heather and great granddaughter, Maria Margaret. The last 2 months of his life, Don received excellent professional and loving care from the staff of the Harvest Wing and the administrative staff at Centennial Place, Millbrook . The Funeral Service will be held at NORTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 300 Sunset Blvd, Peterborough, at 2 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2008. A reception and visiting will follow at the church. If desired, condolences to the family, directions to the church and donations to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church (www.united-church.ca) or the charity of your choice may be made at www.CommunityAlternative.ca or by calling COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL HOME at 705-742-1875. Interment will be in Shelburne at a date to be arranged.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
