Audrey Duffy Richmond Hill, Ontario Obituary

Audrey Duffy

Born May 5, 1927, in Toronto, loving wife of (deceased) Thomas Duffy, daughter of Ernest Fitzpatrick and Nora Brush, sister of Jake Fitzpatrick, and predeceased by sisters Dorothy Aldredge, Nora Mortley and Margaret Ollerenshaw. On March 19, 2011, Audrey passed away in loving peace, demonstrating strength, grace and dignity, while providing the ultimate lessons of acceptance, guidance and the unconditional love of a mother in her final days. Her passing followed complications due to a lengthy illness and several health challenges. Surrounded by the love of her family- daughters Susan Gontier, Patti Duffy, Joan Duffy, Terri Ingram (Steve) and Tom Duffy (Nicole), Audrey also left behind sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Whether through her love of nature and gardening, music, home making, or her forthright sense of humour, her love, perseverance, and innate ability to bring out the best in a given situation never left her. The manner of her final passing was the culmination of her ability to oversee and provide nurturing guidance to her children. It is with gratitude that the family wishes to acknowledge the staff and residents of the Maple Health Centre, as well as the Palliative Care team at York Central Hospital, in particular Jackie and Sherry, for their compassion and empathy. Cremation has taken place. The family has taken time for private reflection and remembrance. Should you wish to remember Audrey, donations to the Heart And Stroke Fund, as well as York Central Hospital's Palliative Care Unit, would be warmly received.
