Donald Joseph Russell Obituary

Russell (Roussell) Donald “Chi-Chi”- Passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully with his loving family by his side, at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday July 13, 2020 at the age of 85. Survived by his loving and caring wife Shirley (nee Trepasso) for 64 years. Dear Father of Brenda Chisholm, David, Dan/Artie (Danna), Cindy Ward (Dan) and Marjie Reville (Mike Cyr). Proud grandfather of Kristina (Tim), Monica (Mike), Patrick (Michelle), Natalie (Matt), Tyler, Natasha, Alexander, Benjamin, Kayla and Kristen (Kyle). Son of the late Albert and Mae Roussell. Survived by his sister, Marion St. Jules (Lou) and sister-in-law, Yvette Roussell. Predeceased by brothers Lorne (Ruth), Windy, and Bert (Alecta) Roussell. Uncle Donny will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and missed by his cousins in Flint, Michigan. Chi-Chi was a great friend to many people, but special shout-outs go to his fishing pal the late John Lozowsky, long-time friend Claude Rivard, and work buddies Willie Robb, Harry Symboluk, and Rick DiDonato. Chi-Chi organized the Senior Men’s League at Superior View Golf Club, where he was also a member for over 20 years playing a round or two with his brother Bert. If you didn’t see Chi-Chi in the stands cheering for the Soo Greyhounds, you could find him after the game at the Elks Lodge sharing a beer with his dear brothers Lorne and Windy. Chi-Chi’s love for the Habs and Tigers was only outdone by his passion for Neil Diamond. His love of music will forever be treasured by his kids and grandkids. A private family service is taking place this week with a Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date. Thank you to the 3rd floor staff at the F.J. Davey Home, as well as the compassionate care workers at the Sault Area Hospital who managed Chi-Chi’s final hours. Special appreciation to Father Alex and the O’Sullivan Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Gerard Majella Church or the Elks Lodge (No. 341) would be appreciated (payable by cheque or online). Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 215 St. James St, 705-759-8456. Rest in peace dad, where your mind is clear and your favourite tunes are playing loud!
