Bryan Shaw, of St. Marys, passed away at Wildwood Care Centre, on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in his 68th year.
Beloved husband of the former Doreen Cerenzia. Dear father of Scott and wife Brenda, and Andrea and husband Ty Yavuz. Devoted Grandpa of Kaitlyn, Brooke and Eliza Shaw. Dear brother-in-law of Sandra and the late Tony Cerenzia of St. Thomas, Rita and Richard Bergen of Kitchener. He will be sadly missed by cousin Miranda Francis and family of Nottingham England, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born in Blidworth, England in 1939, Bryan immigrated to Canada in 1967, where he pursued a successful teaching career. He earned a Bachelor of Education Degree, as well as a Master of Education Degree, from the University of Western Ontario. He was Technical Director at St. Marys D.C.V.I. for 20 years, retiring in 1995. Bryan was active in the community, serving several terms on St. Marys Town Council, the Police Commission and St. Marys P.U.C. He also enjoyed golf and tennis.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial visiting will be held at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. South, St. Marys (519-284-2820), on Saturday from 7 - 9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be conducted at the St. Marys Friendship Centre, 317 James St. South, on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Mayor Jamie Hahn officiating. In Bryan’s memory, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Perth County, Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of choice would be appreciated.
