Barbara Goforth

Barbara Ann Goforth passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on May 13, 2015 in her 89th year. She was born in Stratford on March 28, 1927 and was a lifelong resident. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Roy Goforth on December 7, 1998 whom she married on April 27, 1945 at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Stratford. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage. Barbara and Roy operated Roy’s Taxi Service for 25 years until poor health forced early retirement, after which they enjoyed many winters in Florida. Barbara received much pleasure in playing cards at the Lakeside Seniors Centre. Barbara was the last surviving child of Russell and Marie Baker. Loving mother of Kevin Goforth and wife Kelley of Stratford and Barbara Patenaude and husband John of Killaloe.; grandmother of Kelsey and Michael Goforth, John Jr. and Bobby Patenaude, and great grandmother of several great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother in law Frank Goforth and wife Lois as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara was a special friend to Frank, Brian and Loretta Easterbrook and honorary grandma to Kyle Kennedy and Jacob Easterbrook. Barbara was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tamara Barbara Patenaude, in infancy. Also predeceased by brothers and sisters; William (Jesse) Baker, Dorothy (Tom) Sweeney, John (Lily) Baker, Marge (Mike) Campbell, Mary (Jake) Mulholland, Ronald (Doris) Baker and Russell Baker who was killed in Ortona, Italy on December 24, 1943. Barbara’s family would like to thank all relatives and friends that visited her at the hospital. They would also like to thank Dr. Heisz, Dr. Martin, Dr. Peters and the nurses and staff of 3 East Stratford General Hospital for Barbara’s end of life care. At Barbara’s request there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A private service will take place at Avondale Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Stratford-Perth Humane Society through the James A.
