Bruce Leslie MacAlpine, CA. CMA, BA Passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on April 26th, 2013 at the age of 83. Bruce is survived by his wife June MacAlpine (Gowlett). Lovingly remembered by children, James (Helen) Stratford, Mary-Anne of London, Kathryn and husband Greg Cox of Nova Scotia, Leslie and Husband Brad Knarr of Waterloo, and Andrew and wife Mary of Shakespeare. Bruce has 14 grandchildren Rob (Cecile), Amy (Marc), Scott (Sarah), Robyn, Sheela, Kaylyn, David, Sarah Jane, Emily, Alex, Aiden, Jack and Alison. Also, Bruce will be lovingly remembered by two great-grand daughters Sophie, and Sadie. Predeceased by parents Kenneth McAlpine (KJ) and Annie (Nan) MacLauchan who both immigrated to Canada from Scotland in the 1920’s. Bruce has three sisters, Patricia Moore and husband Brian of Medicine Hat Alberta, Jean Dykstra and husband John of Simcoe Ontario and Heather McAlpine of Vancouver B.C. Bruce graduated from Western University with a business degree in Accounting. He and his wife moved to Stratford in the 60’s from Toronto, where he worked at Imperial Furniture, then became a public accountant, a partner in Famme, McCully and Company and had his own accounting practice. He was active in the community over the years, was Past President of Jaycees, Senator for Junior Chamber International, Budget Chairman for Stratford United Way, Bruce sat on the finance board for the VON, former treasure on the Board of Managers and secretary treasurer for the trustees at Knox Presbyterian Church, and he was a very active member of the Stratford Barbershoppers. Visitation will be held at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. Many thanks to the VON nurses who helped him at home, Dr. Thomas and the nursing staff at Stratford General Hospital on the Medical floor for their care and compassion while Bruce was there, special thanks to Mary Helen and Colleen for their support and kindness. At the familys’ request, no funeral service will be held. Donations to the VON would be appreciated in lieu of flowers through the funeral home at www.jarfh.com
