It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Daniel Anderson, on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Stratford General Hospital. Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years Daisy Anderson, children Esther and Harold Vander Hyden, William and Gail Anderson and Kathleen and Charles Needles. He will be missed by his grandchildren Curtis (Laura), Duane (Sarah) and Russel (Elizabeth) Vander Hyden, Carlyle (Jessica) Anderson, Mallory (Trevor) Neeb, Craig (Stacey), William (Ashley) and Caroline (Matthew) Needles, Meagan (Mick) McGuckin, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dan is also survived by his sister Margaret Flynn and predeceased by his sister Marion and his brothers-in-law Robert Gibb and Alvin Flynn. Dan grew up and farmed in South Easthope for many years. He was a Junior Farmer and a proud piper in the North Easthope Pipe Band. He enjoyed outdoor work for many years, gardening, caring for the farm animals, appreciating the natural world and was an avid reader and history buff. Dan enjoyed all visits from family members, young and old. He welcomed all. Daisy appreciated the support that she and Dan received from the wonderful staff at Adult Day Care Program, Woodland Towers. This support made it possible for Dan and Daisy to be together as long as possible in their own home. Many thanks to Dr. Jon Schiedel, Dr. Eric Thomas and Dr. John Haddad. A casual gathering of friends and family will be held at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 804 Ontario Street, Stratford, 519-271-5062, on Saturday, February 22 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Formal reflections of Dan will begin at 3:30 pm.
