Doris Rowe (nee Mountford ) Doris Rowe passed away peacefully at the Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell, on Tuesday December 6, 2016 in her 97th year. Survived by loving daughter, Susan, sisters Elsie(Tom), Hilda(Roy), Joyce(Bill) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Robert Rowe, sister Nellie(Bill), brothers Fred(Nora), Wilf(Evelyn) and Bill Doris was a nursing sister in London during WWII, a surgical and ENT nurse postwar in Stoke On Trent, England. After arriving in Canada in 1957, Doris volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of the Scottish Country Dance Society in Stratford, hosting early dances in her home. She loved her dancing. She had many stories to tell about her time as a nurse, and will be remembered for her dry wit, sense of humour and her generosity. She was a clever letter writer and her English family fondly remembers her amusing letters. A memorial service celebrating Doris’s life will take place at a later date. Details will be published by the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford,Ont.
