Dorothy (Ayris) Ryde, born January 7, 1930, passed away June 3, 2015. Family leader, lover of flowers and proper tea, wonderful pie creator, avid card player, collector of old china jugs, good sport, lover of a good party and an indomitable spirit. Loving wife of Charles and much loved Mom of Peter Ryde (Patricia), Susan Wakelin (Alan), Cathy Meder (Gord) and Nancy Ryde. To her 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Alisha, Danielle, Sarah, Jake, Hillary, Julia, Louis, Zoe and Mary, she was their treasured Nana, generous, strong and inspiring. She was also special Great Nana to 11, Luke, Ben, Evelyn, Juliette, Claire, Calvin, Cooper, Katie, Carys, Charlie and Olivia. Dorothy was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Ayris of Guelph Ontario, and sister of Marjorie, Robert and George (all deceased). A funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 9 Douro Street, Stratford on Saturday June 6, 2015 at 11:00am, with visitation starting at 10:00 am and followed by the scattering of ashes at God’s Holy Acre. Luncheon will be held at St. Paul’s Church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy’s memory to the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario or to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul’s Anglican Church through the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home at 519-271-5062.www.jarfh.com
