Eloise and Thomas Clarke

Eloise August Clarke, born in Euphemia Township, Lambton County. Predeceased by her parents, Ivan Karl Macaulay and Mildred (Brennan) Macaulay and by her sisters Vera Gertrude Macaulay and Shirley Munro and by her brother Staff Macaulay. She is survived by her husband Thomas Clarke. She is the cherished mother to her sons Roderick (Mary Lou) of Kelowna, Brian (Theresa) of Cambridge and Jeffrey (Jeanine) of Stratford and her daughter Lori Sheehy of Ottawa. She is the beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Eloise graduated from London Teachers' College in 1942 and taught in elementary schools in Enniskillen Township, Port Lambton and Chatham. After her marriage she was a supply teacher in Sarnia and later in Markham. Thomas Leslie Clarke, Predeceased (June 5th, 2016) by his loving wife of 69 years, Eloise Macaulay. Also predeceased by his parents Roy and Louise (Elliott) Clarke and by brothers Douglas, Gordon S., Tait, Bruce and by sister Patricia Christopher. Survived by sisters Dorie and Betty. Devoted father to sons Roderick (Mary Lou) of Kelowna, Brian (Theresa) of Cambridge and Jeffrey (Jeanine) of Stratford and daughter Lori Sheehy of Ottawa. Also survived by nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Tom joined the Royal Canadian Navy in July 1940 and served in the Atlantic, Pacific, the North Sea and the English Channel and obtained the rank of Petty Officer. He was discharged from the Navy in January 1946. Tom was employed by Imperial Oil Ltd. at the Sarnia Refinery. In June 1963, he was transferred to the Don Mills Regional Office where he worked until his retirement in December 1982. In 1984 he joined the staff of the Christian Blind Mission and worked there until 1990. Visitation and funeral will be for both Thomas and Eloise Clarke. Visitation will be Monday, July 11th, 2016 from 2-4 and from 7-9 p.m. at James A. Rutherford Funeral Home at 156 Albert Street, Stratford, Ontario. Funeral will be Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 at 2 p.m. Avon Mennonite Church.
