Russell Gerald Snider, age 83, of 400 Romeo Street North, Stratford passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Born in Shelburne, he was the son of the late Alexander Snider and the former Sarah Elizabeth Rielly. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Lakeside Seniors’ Association. He enjoyed playing ball over the years as well as coaching both ball and hockey. Beloved husband of Jane Snider. Dear father of Cindy Snider-Riek and husband Tom and Mike Snider and Fiancé Karen Pomerleau. Loving grandfather of Brandon and Jesse Riek, Stacey Snider, Scott Snider. Also survived by great-grandchildren Ellie and Maxx. Dear brother of Donald Snider and wife Alice of Guelph, Helen McCarthy and husband Terry of Shelburne, Royce Snider and wife Mae of Brampton and Dolores Cornelius and husband John of Orangeville. Dear uncle of several nieces and nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Clifford Snider, Kenneth Snider and William Snider, Sister Dorothy Smith and Husband Carmen Smith, Sisters-in-law Bridget Snider, Edna Snider and Alma Snider. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may call at the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 11am-1 p.m. Until the time of the memorial service at 1pm.
