LOA GERALDINE REUBER (Ruhs) passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at her home in the Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell. She was born at Botna, Iowa on December 3, 1915 to the late Fred and Lottie (Paydon) Ruhs. She graduated from the Oswego Illinois High School, attended North Central College for three years, and taught public school near Oswego Illinois for four years. She was united in marriage to the Rev. Mervyn E. Reuber on May 6, 1941 at the Oswego Presbyterian Church. She followed her husband to Ontario, Canada, into pastoral charges at Kitchener, Crediton, New Hamburg, Stratford, Elmira, and Seaforth before their retirement to Stratford in 1978. She became a Canadian citizen in 1971 and was supply teacher with the Elmira School Board. She was a past president of the Evangelical United Brethren Conference Women’s Society. She also served on several committees of the former EUB Conference. She was an active member of Central United Church Stratford and of the United Church Women following retirement. She was predeceased by her husband Mervyn Reuber, four sisters, Mildred Fogarty (Arizona), Hazel Croft (Iowa), Ferne Paulson (Iowa), Arlene King (Illinois), half-sister Caryl Clarke (Arizona), and one brother Marvin Ruhs (Iowa). She is survived by her daughter Anne of Stratford and son Paul of Toronto. There will be no funeral home visitation. Cremation will take place with burial in Avondale Cemetery Stratford. A memorial service will be held at Central United Church Stratford at 2 pm on Saturday July 12, with Rev. Kathi Urbasik-Hindley officiating.
