Mike Parker Obituary

Leslie Michael "Mike" Parker, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016. He was 62 years old. His parents, who predeceased him, were Leslie and Margaret Parker, Mike was the oldest of three children. He is survived by his wife Diane, whom he married on April 22, 1978. His daughter Amy and husband Dan Trela, of London and son Adam of Stratford. His grandchildren, Eva and Abel Trela, whom he talked about to anybody and everybody. His greatest joy was when they came to visit and Eva would give him a sparkly smile and Abel would go running to get Poppa his yogurt (ensure). Mike is also survived by his two sisters, Pat Collings and partner Wayne Kelly of Mitchell. Kim and husband Jack Switzer of St. Pauls. His brother-in-law David Hood and wife Debbie, sister-in-law Nancy Padacz and husband Stan and sister-in-law Patricia Bolzon and husband Larry. Nieces and nephews, Nicholas Collings, Jeff Collings and partner Sara Agroff and Jon and wife Megan Collings, Jes and Jordan Switzer, Laura and Kevin Hood, Sarah and David Virro, Andrew Padacz and Erica Bolzon will remember Mike fondly. Mike made his career as a salesman for Belgium Standard Industries, Corib, and eventually became General Manager for Vic West Steel. He was also General Manager for the Canadian Farm Builders Association in recent years. He was happiest when he could get on his motorcycle and go for a ride. He could get anywhere on his bike and it would only take him 45 minutes. Mike was a founding member of the Waterloo Wings Motorcycle group and had a real passion for riding safe. He enjoyed time in Florida with his family and friends the last few winters. The last year has been very difficult, but the visits, phone calls, emails and cards have made it more enjoyable for Mike and his family. He really looked forward to everyone coming to visit. Cremation has taken place as per Mike’s wishes. Diane, Amy, Dan and Adam would like to invite family, friends and neighbours to share a Celebration of Life at the Army Navy & Air Force Veterans Club, 151 Lorne Ave E, Stratford, on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The family would appreciate donations to Knox Church, Stratford or the Stratford Rotary Hospice Project.
