Peter Case Obituary

Peter Wolfe Case, beloved husband of Eleanor Mary Case of Stratford, passed away on July 17th 2014. He was 86 years of age. Peter was born in Toronto on Janaury 15, 1928, the son of the late Frederic Wolfe Case and the former Edith Leslie MacGregor. He was educated at Westmount Quebec and Macdonald College School. After a short time in the Royal Canadian Navy, he attended Macdonald College of McGill University, earning a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture in 1951. He worked in industry for a few years, then went to Teachers’ College from where he taught at Central Collegiate Institute and later, on the first staff of Northwestern Secondary School. Peter met his wife to be while both were attending Macdonald College. They were married at Ste. Anne de Bellevue-Quebec on August 8, 1952. Peter was active in the Stratford community and served on the Red Cross executive, The Children’s Aid Society and served several terms on City Council. He was a founding member of the Perth County Historical Society and Commodore of the Wildwood Sailing Club. Peter’s passions were history, sailing, home renovation, wine and his family. Predeceased by his parents, and brother Ian. Left to mourn his passing, are his wife Eleanor; sons Michael of Toronto and Jamie (Lisa) of Penang, Malaysia; daughters Heather of Manhattan and Pamela of Vancouver, British Columbia; sisters Bridget Haller (Peter), Judy Small (Ted) and Heather Shee (Neil). Peter is also survived by grandson Johnathan and numerous nieces and nephews. All are welcomed to attend a celebration of Peter’s life which will be held on Tuesday July 22, 2014 at the family home at 91 Birmingham St., Stratford from 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stratford- Perth Humane Society would be appreciated and can be made through the James A.
