Dr. Robert George Baker, age 98 of Stratford passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015. Born in Kindersley Saskatchewan, he was the son of the late Robert Carlington Baker and the former Clara Cober. Beloved husband of the late Jean Dorothy (Graham) Baker for 60 years, and husband of Elmeda (Martin) Baker for 10 years. Cherished father of Mardelle Wilson-Knight and husband Ivan Knight of Shakespeare, Barry Baker of Stratford, Vaughn Baker of Ottawa and Graham Baker and wife Sandra of New Hampshire. Loving grandfather of Steve Wilson and wife Sue-Ann, Blair Wilson, Laura and Anne Baker and Adrian and Michael Baker. Proud great-grandpa to four great-granddaughters. Dear brother of Bruce Baker, Myrtle Somerville, Muriel Hirons, Grace Dies and husband Glenn, and Joyce Hawton and husband Ron. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by a brother Calvin Baker and wife Mary, sister Clara Mae Climenhaga and husband Evan, sister Maryetta Stonehouse and husband Russell and brothers-in-law Roy Hirons and Ray Somerville. Robert worked at the Princess Margaret Hospital in the Nuclear Physics Department, then taught physics at Ottawa University and also pursued a lifelong career in cancer research at Ottawa Civic Hospital. Rutherford Funeral Home, 156 Albert Street, Stratford, on Saturday August 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Heise Hill Cemetery, Gormley, Ontario.
