Yollande Tessier passed away peacefully at Elizabeth Centre on Thursday, November 21st 2019 surrounded by her family. She was a week away from her 85th birthday.Born in St-Charles on November 29, 1934 and raised in Estaire, she was the second eldest of 8 children, the only girl. A schoolteacher in the Sudbury area, she also spent 6 years in Germany teaching at the military base in Lahr. After retiring from teaching, Yollande continued to travel, mostly to Cuba during recent years, where she devoted her time helping the less fortunate. In October, she was presented with the “Making a Difference Award” for her humanitarian work. If it wasn’t for a tragic car accident during her last visit to Cuba in 2015, she would still be travelling back and forth to Cuba, helping those in need. She was a generous and beautiful soul who enjoyed the company of family and friends. She will be truly missed. Beloved sister of Guy (Louise), Gaëtan (Rachel), Jean-Paul, Jacques (Jocelyne) and Gérard. Predeceased by her parents Solomon and Alma (Grandmaison) Tessier as well as her two brothers Marcel and Claude. Cherished by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Elizabeth Centre for their kind and compassionate care. As per Yollande’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.
