Barry Humphrey Sudbury, Ontario Obituary

Barry Humphrey

In loving memory of Barry Humphrey, aged 85, who passed away on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at Health Sciences North. He is reunited with his beloved wife Norma (predeceased 2012). Loving father of Lisa Emons (Jeremy) of Orillia, and very proud grandpa of Rebecca and Zachary. Barry is survived by his brother, Howard Keith (Bud) Humphrey (Odette) of Alliston and stepbrother Dennis Sinclair. Predeceased by his parents Clifford and Gladys Humphrey (Graham), stepmother Marjorie Humphrey (Sinclair), and brother Donald (Jack) Humphrey. Much loved brother-in-law of John Caicco (Yolanda), Anita Caicco, Sr. Shirley Caicco of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Ada and Bill Bawks (both deceased), Gerry Shannon (Terry), Robert Caicco, Anne Ryan (Terry deceased), Noreen MacKinnon (Al), Patricia and Doug Murdoch (both deceased), and Jeannie Spina (Ron). He also will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews. Barry was a kind and caring man who always put his family first and was a valued friend to all. He looked forward to, and thoroughly enjoyed all family gatherings, dinners and game nights. He cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren. When he wasn't found spending time outdoors reading and maintaining his meticulously manicured lawn and flower gardens, he would instead be found enjoying at full volume, the jazz and big band music that he loved so much. He has passed on his appreciation, knowledge and love of music to many grateful, younger family members. Barry was an avid fan of all sports. Having played basketball, baseball, bowling, curling and golf at various times in his life, his knowledge and love for each was unparalleled. Barry was employed by Smith Corona, Hobart, and Ingersoll Rand Canada for many years in Toronto, and Ingersoll Rand and Drillex International in Sudbury. He was also a faith-filled member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. The family would like to thank those who provided Barry with excellent care, including Dr. Puranam, Dr. deBlacam, the nurses and the PSWs on the 5th floor south at Health Sciences North. The family will be greeting friends at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury on Thursday, October 19th, 2017 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm, with parish prayers at 3pm Thursday. Funeral Mass in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Road, on Friday, October 20th, 2017 at 10am. Interment to follow in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maison McCulloch Hospice and Ronald McDonald House (Toronto) would be appreciated.
