ELLIOTT, Nelson – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Nelson Pearce Elliott. Dad passed away at North Bay Regional Health Centre, North Bay, on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in his 92nd year. He was born in August 1925 on the 5th concession of West Nissouri Township. Dad married his “Buttercup”, Lucy Goarley and were married for over 63 years before she passed away on January 4, 2013. Together they raised their five children, Lois and Doug MacKay, George and Aileen, Joe and Judy, Margaret and Robin Bryan, and Paul and Mary Jane. He will be especially missed by his 18 grandchildren, Kylie MacKay, Craig and Amy MacKay, Jason and Shelby Elliott, Jane and Bruce Pickel, Rob Elliott, Rebecca and Ryan Mailloux, Kelly and Neil McMillan, Jessica and Scott Cochrane, Joanne and Adam Hutchison, Sam and Brittany Elliott, Kim Elliott, Kolene and Ryan Gustafson, Kara and Adam Knott, Paula and Mike Jordan, Penny and Mike Brookshaw, Patti and Marty Wakem, Pepper and Gary Gaston, and Pam and Dan Ryan, as well as his 33 great-grandchildren, Caelan, Camden, Hayley, Jillian, Georgia, Harvest, Victoria, Larissa, Mikayla, Colin, Abby, Kylie, Kasen, Hunter, Trent, Emma, Logan, Meghan, Kloe, Paige, Noah, Payton, Rylee, Tucker, Jane, Austin, Carson, Cole, Nolan, Gary Jr., Taylor, Mason, and Felicity. Predeceased by parents, William and Elizabeth and four brothers, Calvin, Murray, Bill, and Lloyd. Also remembered by his sisters-in-law, Joanne (Jim) Myers, Shirley, and Dorothy Elliott. Nelson’s love was being a farmer, but he gave of his time to West Nissouri Council, to be Warden of Middlesex County, a Member of Parliament in Ottawa for the riding of London –Middlesex, and a 60 year member of the Thorndale Mount Olivet Lodge. Friends may join the family on Tuesday, April 4, from 7-9pm, Wednesday, April 5, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home Thamesford Chapel, 177 Dundas St., Thamesford, ON. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 11:00am at Faith Tabernacle, 1920 Huron St., London with Rev. George Elliott officiating. Interment in the Vining Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Personal condolences may be made at www.brockandvisser.com A Masonic Service will be held on Tuesday at 6pm at the funeral home.
