Mr. Charles Shaughnessy Thunder Bay, Ontario Obituary

Mr. Charles Shaughnessy

SHAUGHNESSY It is with great sadness that the Shaughnessy family announces the unexpected passing of Charles Alexander Shaughnessy, age 32, on September 12, 2016. Charlie was born on February 21, 1984. He grew up in Westfort, attending St. Martin school and St. Patrick high school. He went on to earn his journeyman electrician papers later attaining a career in the electrical field. Charlie was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humour. He could generate a laugh from anyone by making an awkward situation even more awkward. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and will be profoundly missed by all of them. Dearest to Charlie’s heart was his beautiful daughter Gracie Flynn who he loved more than anything. He was a doting father who cherished every moment with his little girl. His playful nature and big heart brought out the best in both of them. Charlie enjoyed nothing more than going to see hockey games with his dad and brothers, playing guitar and chilling with his cousins. He also enjoyed taking his dog, Walter, for walks around the neighbourhood. Most of all he enjoyed fishing with his younger brother Baz with whom he shared a special bond. Charlie is survived by his daughter Gracie Flynn Shaughnessy; Gracie’s mother, Kara Rauman; parents Patrick and Debra (nee Grant) Shaughnessy; siblings, Kelly (Melinda) Shaughnessy, Chelsea (Tanner) Henderson and Bazil Shaughnessy. He is also survived by his nieces Haley, Lila and Alana; and his nephew Cody. Charlie is predeceased by grandparents Basil and Marie Shaughnessy and Willy and Ruth Grant. Funeral services for the late Mr. Charles Shaughnessy will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:30am at the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street. A reception will follow at the Victoria Inn. A private interment will take place at a later date. Should friends so desire, in memory of Charles, donations can be made to the George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation. Stand Fast
