Mr. Douglas Joseph Walters Obituary

Douglas Walters It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband and father, Douglas Joseph Walters, age 66 years, peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, with his family by his side. Douglas was born in Renfrew, Ontario on March 29, 1950 to Ethel and Cornelius Walters. He was a graduate of Queens University. Douglas was a business man and worked as a Controller, Accountant and Landlord before starting his career as a Youth Correctional Officer. Douglas loved fishing at Bright Sands, football, CNN and the Rolling Stones. He also enjoyed fixing and building things, completing many projects. Above all else, Douglas' greatest passion was spending time with his kids and grandkids. He taught them good work ethics, to love deep, to respect others and to live life and then to give back. Douglas will be deeply missed by his wife, Christine; sons Cory and Ryan (Jessica) and their mother Joy Prentiss; step-children Jennifer and Michael Owens as well as his much loved grandchildren Dylan, Alaina and Colin and dogs Clyde and Harley Quinn. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Tommy (Joan), Marie, Helen (Harrison), Liz (Roland), Ken (Lavina) and Jerry as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Gertrude, Jane and Diane and brother-in-law Bill as well as his nephew, Patrick. A Memorial Service for the late Mr. Douglas Walters will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 10:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Father Jerin Louis. A private interment will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00pm until 8:30pm. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Douglas to the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
