GOTTFRED It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth “Betty” Pearl Gottfred, age 74 years, announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side. Betty was born on July 21, 1942 in Fort William. She worked for many years as a secretary with the Lakehead Public School Board until her health forced her to retire. Betty was a longtime member of St. Luke's Anglican Church and sang in the Church Choir for many years. She also kept busy with other church functions and activities as well as numerous community involvements. Betty was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and cheered them on whenever she could. Above all else, Betty's passion was her family. She truly loved spending time with everyone, but especially her children and grandchildren. Betty will be greatly missed by her daughters Melanie and Kimberly (Mike) McAllister and her grandchildren Shannon, Marie and Liam; sister Lynda (Greig) Lawrie; niece and nephews Michelle (Vasist) Kundurpi and Matthew Lawrie, Barry and Garry (Marjorie) Gottfred as well as numerous other relatives. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard (2008) as well as her parents. Funeral Services for the Late Mrs. Betty Gottfred will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:30am in St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 205 Cameron Street, with Rev. Canon Dr. George Porter officiating. A private family interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial donation made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
