Mrs. Ruth Rayner Obituary

Mrs. Ruth Lillian Rayner (nee Nuttall), age 95 years of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Lakehead Manor on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Born in Port Arthur, Ontario on April 26, 1921, Ruth spent her early years cleaning houses and working in a corner store. She met Roy, the love of her life, and they were married on September 27, 1941. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2001. Ruth's home, family and church were the main focuses of her life. Ruth is survived by her two sons, Gary (Marilyn) and Bryan (Alice) of Thunder Bay; five granddaughters: Jillian Boyd (Blain and great-grandchildren Austin and Alexandra) of Thunder Bay, Chelsea Rayner (Andrew) of Thunder Bay, Laura Trim (Josh and great-grandchildren Lillian and Emma) of St. Catharines, Ontario, Carrie-Lynn Draga (John) of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and Kylie Trognitz (Jonathon and great-granddaughter Adelyne) of Thunder Bay. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Nuttall (Mabel) of Peterborough, Ontario; sisters Edna Blair of Thunder Bay and Vivian McNeill (Don) of London, Ontario as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her parents; her husband Roy (2001); four brothers Bill, Bob, Norman and Allan and two sisters Mabel (in infancy) and Nellie. We extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Lakehead Manor - 6th Floor, and to the faithful friends who visited our Mother over the past few years. Your care and support meant a lot to us. We will miss her but count it a great privilege to have called her our Mother. A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00 am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James, officiated by Rev. Randy Boyd. A private family interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Ruth to the Salvation Army or Adult & Teen Challenge would be greatly appreciated.
