Mr. Lionel Trodd Obituary

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2014, Lionel Lenard Trodd, age 83, passed away at Pinewood Court. His last day on this earth, August 1st, was spent with his loving wife and friend Audrey as together they celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. Lionel was born in Orillia, Ontario in 1930 to parents Stanley and Cynthia and he would have turned 84 on September 7th this year. This kind, gentle and loving man worked hard to look after his family. For 35 years he was a Conservation Officer first with Lands and Forests and eventually the Ministry of Natural Resources. In 1950 he began his career in Kapuskasing as a rookie. After completing his training in the Forest Ranger School in Dorset in 1953 he returned to Kapuskasing as a full-fledged CO. He was transferred to Espanola in 1958, then to Pembroke in 1966 and finally Terrace Bay were he ended his career in 1985. He was proud of the work he did and enjoyed the outdoor life even after his retirement. Fishing, hunting, bird watching, canoeing, camping and berry picking with Lou were his favourite things to do. His family meant everything to him and family gatherings were where he was at his very best. His sense of humour and his love of story telling will be sorely missed by all of us. Lionel was predeceased by his father Stanley, his mother Cynthia, his step-mother Mae, his brother William (Bill) and his sister Cynthia (Marie) Howes. Left with the fond memories of his love are his wife and best friend of 61 years Audrey, his children and grandchildren, son Keith, his wife Lynda, their two children Kailey and Kyle, his son John, his wife Geraldine and their three children Neil, Diana (Brandon) and Carissa (Jamie) and his daughter Alice, her husband Teijo and their five children Melinda (Joe), Adam (Julia), Eric, Tyson (Cheryl) and Kari (Stephanie). Lionel had the privilege and was very proud to become a Great Grandpa to Alythea Violet, Aryana Mae and Zachary Lionel Hill all of Thunder Bay as well as Miss Lila Marie Cochrane of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The family would like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, the angels that cared for Dad over the past few years both at the TBRHSC and Pinewood Court. Your compassion, caring and professionalism  will be remembered forever. Also thank you to Dr. Klassen and Dr. Habjan for your wonderful care. Funeral services will be held for Mr. Lionel Trodd on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1:00PM in the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street. Dad¹s finale camping place will be at the Stanley Hill Cemetery as interment will take place directly after the funeral. A reception will follow at the Rosslyn Village Community Centre where Lionel¹s family will welcome all for a time of fellowship and perhaps a toast. Should friends so desire donations made in memory of Lionel to Lakehead University would be greatly appreciated. Farwell to our beloved Husband, Father and Friend. Until we meet again.   Have a care.
