Mr. Peter Holowatyj

PETER HOLOWATYJ Mr. Peter Holowatyj, age 59, passed away peacefully in Bethammi Nursing Home on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Peter blessed his sister Mary Ann by waiting for her scheduled morning arrival before his final farewell. Peter was born on June 11, 1958 in Fort William. He began his career in 1978 as an Apprentice Mechanic with Peterbilt Truck Centre, becoming a Journeyman Mechanic and then a Foreman. In 2000, he advanced to the Sales Department. He was dedicated to a career he loved and excelled at. Peter developed close friendships with his co-workers, many becoming like family. These special friendships continued during his lengthy illness. He enjoyed his yearly trips to the Daytona 500 with close friends, card games with the gang and lots of java and shop talk at the local coffee shops with friends. Peter was generous with his talents and time, often spending weekends helping friends with jobs. Nieces Aimee and Natalie were fortunate to have an extra father figure in Peter as he always went the extra mile to help them achieve their goals. Peter is survived by his sister Mary Ann (Yvon) Bourdages; nieces Aimee Bourdages (Mike Squitti) and Natalie Bourdages (Sasha Ejupovic) and his great niece and nephew Nyla and Leo. He is also survived by numerous close friends who honoured him with regular visits to his second home. We cannot forget the special visits from his furry friends Dak, Luca and Molson. He was predeceased by his parents, Dmitro and Paraska Holowatyj. We will be celebrating Peter Holowatyj's life with a come and go reception on Friday, January 5, 2018 beginning at 1:00pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will take place at a later date in Mountainview Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the Chapel with Vigil Prayers offered at 7:30pm. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.
