Mrs. Louise Brown Thunder Bay, Ontario Obituary

Mrs. Louise Brown

LOUISE ETHEL BROWN (nee Tozer) With tear filled eyes and broken hearts, we announce the passing of an amazing woman, Louise Ethel Brown (nee Tozer). She was the wife of Ray for 62 years, sister-in-law to Jay, Mom of Mike (Lisa), Susan (Monty), Christine (Tim); grandmother to Cory (Nikki), Mike, Jesse (Amy), Adam (Nicole) and great-grandmother of Skyla, Bella, Chaise, Kaylee, Payton and Harken. On the early evening of Friday, September 14, 2018, Louise Ethel Brown was suddenly gone! Words cannot express how we are all feeling. She was the rock of our family and she held us together through good and bad times. Louise was born on April 27, 1936 to parents Ethel (nee Britton) and Del Tozer. She was raised in Fort William on Rosslyn Road and Rossmere Bay, Shebandowan. “Camp” was her favourite place and she was introduced to fishing and hunting at a young age. Her nurturing demeanour became evident when she graduated and became an RNA, working at the Sanatorium. Louise married the love of her life Ray, on July 28, 1956 and together they raised their family in Vickers Heights, where they still resided. You might have seen her behind the hockey bench, coaching Thom Thumb Hockey, wearing a Cub Scout Leader uniform, watching Mike and Crissy drag racing, cheering her grandsons on, at the hockey rink, football field or moto-x track, driving her maroon '65 convertible Mustang, drag racing at Chippewa, Terrace Bay or Brainerd, or just out cruising with Ray and their fur babies. Being a member of the Lakehead Antique Car Club for many years, Louise and Ray travelled to car shows including, “Back to the 50's”, Kenora, Dryden, Atikokan and Iola, Wisconsin. Louise fished, hunted, camped in a tent, had a flare for fashion including the love of Shoes, making many of Susan and Christine's school clothes and Halloween costumes for her grandsons. She travelled to Acapulco, Barbados, Jamaica, Maui, went west with Ray in one of their antique Ford cars and was auntie to Kyle, Ashley, Ryan and Robin. Knitting and baking were Louise's passions, making beautiful baby outfits, bunting bags, sweaters, hats, booties and blankets. If she knew you were having a baby, she got busy. Her last outfit was made for her great-grandson Harken. Chocolate Banana muffins, zucchini chocolate chip muffins and her brownie cake were gone as quick as she could bake them. All made with love. Louise was predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Del; mother-in-law Emma and father-in-law Raymond (Buster); sisters-in-law May and Shirley, and numerous other relatives. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. At this time, the family of Louise would like you to join them on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at the Slovak Legion (Atlantic Ave.) in the Solarium Room, to celebrate the life of a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be wonderful. We would like to thank the Fire Department, Paramedics, 911 Operators as well as the Doctors and Nurses on the Trauma Ward at the Regional Hospital. We know you did all that you possibly could. Thank you as well to everyone for the numerous phone calls, flowers, food trays and goody trays. It was greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
