Mrs. Olive Finner Thunder Bay, Ontario Obituary

Mrs. Olive Finner

OLIVE FINNER We are heartbroken to announce the death of our Mom, Olive Finner (nee Klepack), on Monday, October 8, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospice. Mom was born in Mink Creek, Manitoba, on December 16, 1932. Her family relocated to Fort William, where she developed a passion for caring for others and decided to pursue a career in nursing. Mom worked full-time as a nurse until she reluctantly retired at the age of 71. She made such a lasting impression on her patients and coworkers, it was impossible to go anywhere without being stopped by people who either worked with her, or were former patients. Mom’s greatest satisfaction was in the accolades she received from her peers. Mom was an avid curler and curled until her eyesight failed her. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, travelling and visiting the many local and out-of-town tourist spots and restaurants. She had a giant heart and a giant appetite for fun. Olive is survived by daughters Kelly (Ian McEachern) and Michelle (Mark Kuivila), her cherished grandsons Kieran and Aidan Kuivila, sister Irene (Boris Savitsky) and brother Raymond Klepack, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Anne Klepack, husband Patrick Finner, sister and brother-in-law Marion and Larry Willis and her niece’s daughter Staci Dorval. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 10:00 am in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church. Reception to follow immediately at the Church. If friends so desire, donations can be made to any of Mom’s favourite causes: The Underground Gym, Shelter House, Beendigen or CNIB. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
