James (Jim) Vincent Murphy Obituary

With family by his side, Jim peacefully passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017, at the age of 88. Jim was born in Toronto to his loving parents Annie and James. One of seven children, Jim was the last surviving sibling of his six brothers and sisters. He was married to Winifred Prescott (deceased in 1993) for 37 years. They had six children: Tim (Maryann), Anne (Al), Steve (Karen), Barb (Pete), Jay, and the late Carole and her late husband Bob. Jim was a wonderful grandpa to his ten grandchildren: Sam (Naomi), Paul (Kylla), Dan (Kristen), Kevin (Erin), Ryan (Maxine), Patrick (Rachel), Christopher, Christa, Ian, and Sean. Devoted “G.G. Jim” to his five great grandchildren: Mia, Paige, Dex, Noel, and Abby. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his surviving wife of 22 years, Sheila Hales. Jim was step-father to Linda (Alex), the late Roy. Step-grandfather to Greg (Meagan) Ryan (Helve), Ashley (Charlie), and Jasmine. Jim also had seven great step-grandchildren: Sophie, Evan, Charlotte, Macklin, Aksel, Violet, and Teija. Jim was a partner in a successful Chartered Accountants firm originally “Murphy and Murphy”, now “Murphy and Chung”. After 44 successful years in business, Jim retired at the age of 70. Jim will be greatly missed by all family and friends. The family will receive friends at the HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC FUNERAL HOME, 211 Langstaff Road E. (west of Bayview Ave.) on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place within the funeral home in the Chapel of St. Joseph on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation in memory of Jim.
