ANTONOPOULOS, Eleni (Helen) Passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 75, of renal failure. Beloved wife of Dimitrios (Jimmy) for 53 years. Cherished mother of Tina(Chris) and Toula(Greg). Dear Yiayia of Elena, Nicole, James, Constantine(Dean), Demetre, and Andrea. Eleni first arrived in Canada in 1960 and married the love of her life, Jimmy, in Greece. Together through hard work & determination, they built a successful restaurant business starting with Epikourion Restaurant, in the First Canadian Place, in 1977. The Penelope Restaurant followed in 1982, located in the Entertainment District. Eleni & Jimmy are best known as the founders of the quick service restaurant chain, Jimmy the Greek, which has now grown to over 56 locations. Eleni will be fondly remembered by her generous, loving, and kind nature. She was most giving throughout her life to all she came to know. Eleni had a love of dance, travel, flowers, and never missed watching the Greek news. She was loyal to her Christian Orthodox Faith & eternally devoted to her family. Friends & family will be received at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE 50 Overlea Blvd., 416-423-1000 on Monday, April 10 from 5-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at ST. DEMETRIOS GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive on Tuesday, April 11 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
