WHITE, DR. JOHN LINCOLN – Of Fonthill and formerly of Welland, at the Welland County General Hospital, on Friday, March 25, 2011, in his 86th year. Cherished husband for 60 years to Eileen White (nee Higgins). Beloved father of Gordon (Shelley) of Mississauga and Douglas (Julie) of Trappe, Pennsylvania. Loving grandfather of Caitlin, Lauren, Alexander, Sarah, Ellesse, Logan and Penelope. Loved great-grandfather of Sheldrake. Also survived by a brother Moore White (Janet) and daughter-in-law Linda White. Predeceased by parents Dr. Moore and Ruth White, two sons, David (Erika) and Peter (Elizabeth) and his sister Sandra Shields. Born in Lindsay, Ontario, Dr. White served his country in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Following the war, Dr. White, a third generation family doctor, began his family medical practice in Port Colborne before coming to Welland where he practiced medicine for 35 years. Dr. White loved skiing, sailing, travelling, concerts and exploring art galleries. He was a former member of the Buffalo Yacht Club and Buffalo Ski Club. As well, Dr. White was a member of Central United Church, serving as Chairman of the Board of Central United and was a past president of the Medical Society of the Welland County General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at Central United Church with date and time to appear in a future edition of the Tribune. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Welland Hospital Foundation or Central United Church General Fund and would be appreciated by the White family. The H. L.
