Jean Kathleen Weber

WEBER, Jean Kathleen (nee Smith) – passed away on December 8, 2019 at the Welland Hospital in her 86th year. She was predeceased by her husband Calvin in 1989, her son David in 1979, her parents in 1960 and 1971, her sister Joyce in 2012 and by 26 aunts and uncles. She is survived by many first and second cousins. In the past, Jean had been a Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, children’s club teacher and treasurer for the 8th Welland Scouting Mother’s Auxiliary. In 2003, she was honoured with an Ontario Volunteer Award for her volunteer work for 10 years from the Ministry of Citizenship for telephoning shut-ins on a regular basis for Community Support Services of the Niagara Region and for serving as a server for Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered at the Welland Hospital for several years, mainly on the flower cart. Jean was born in Kinloss Township on August 25, 1934 and with her parents and sister moved to Kincardine in May of 1941. She has lived permanently in the Welland area since 1955. Jean was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, December 13, 2019 after 10 a.m. Pastor Jukka Saarinen will conduct her service at 11 o’clock in the Cudney Chapel. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Bethel, Ontario. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Help A Child Smile, Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
