SMITH – Rose Marie (nee Boudreau) Smith passed away peacefully, after “Dancing with cancer” for four years, surrounded by her loving family at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Friday, May 25, 2007 in her 54th year. Beloved wife of Ed. Loving mother of Ivey-Mae Smith (Jeff Golden), Emmet Wicket Smith and Griffin Boudreau Smith (Kristie). Cherished grandmother of Ariel Elizabeth Rose Smith and Trinity Marie Catharine Smith. Dear sister of Gary Boudreau (Marilynn) and Elaine Dennis (Bill). Rose was dearly loved and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends and dear friend Ruth Bartlett. Predeceased by her parents Francis and Agnes Boudreau and dear border collie Fletch. Rose was always looking for ways to improve the quailty of life in the community for everyone. She was a founding member of S.W.E.E.P., founder and president of Meziadin Lake Fellowship Association and a strong voice in support of the Gitanyow Nation in their land claim disputes in northern British Columbia. The family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock. Private interment at a later date.
