It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francesca Formica, beloved wife of Giovanni, loving mother to Rosaria Natalina and Francesco Giovanni Formica & cherished grandmother to her only grandson, Andrew Frank Bertolas. Francesca was a dedicated daughter to her deceased parents, Stefano and Giuseppina Formica and will be missed by her only brother, Giuseppe (Ada) Formica and her sisters, Graziella (Salvatore) Camarda and Lidia (Salvatore Parisi). She will also be missed by all her nieces and nephews and many friends who held her so dear to their hearts. Francesca started her battle with cancer in 1991 at the very young age of 42. Through the past 29 years she battled many cancer diagnoses, making her a 7-time cancer survivor. She is a true warrior and an exemplary example that with faith in God, her willingness to live for her family and incredible strength and perseverance any obstacle can be overcome. We’d like to thank all the doctors, surgeons, nurses and her very own dedicated palliative care team for giving her the very best possible care. We thank them for their kindness and caring ways and for always making her comfortable on her most difficult days. Visitations will take place at the Vescio Funeral Home Woodbridge Chapel (8101 Weston Rd. 905-850-3332) on Sunday February 9, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday February 10, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Roch’s Roman Catholic Church (2889 Islington Ave., south of Steeles Ave.). Entombment to follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens (on Albion Rd., at Hwy 27). If so desired, donations in memory of Francesca may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
