COWING, Dorothy Jean - Passed away peacefully at her home on Friday November 17th, 2017. Dorothy Jean Cowing (nee Smith) of Caressant Care Nursing Home in Woodstock, formerly of RR 1, Innerkip was in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late Elmer W. Cowing (2003) for 61 years. Dear mother of Elaine (Donald) Stevens and Larry (Mary) Cowing. Loved grandmother of Michael (Gwen) Stevens, Stephanie (Michael) Park, Peggy Stevens, and Amy (Craig) MacKay. Great grandmother to Elysia and Joshua Bednarek, Sonia Park, Caelan and Camden MacKay. Step-grandmother to Andy Clifford, Philip (Julie) Clifford, Kevin Clifford and step-great grandmother to Avery, Brett, Gavin and Emily. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Smith. Predeceased by her brother Lorne Smith and brother-in-law and his wife, Ivan and Donna Cowing. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Brooklyn and Jean Smith. She grew up on her parent’s 13th Line farm and then farmed with her husband, Elmer, on the 18th Line north of Innerkip for 31 years. Dorothy’s talents included sewing, oil painting and playing the piano. Friends are invited to meet with the family for a time of visitation on Friday December 8th, 2017 from 2pm-5pm at Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock ON, N4S 8Z4, 519-539-0004 where the service will take place in the chapel on Saturday December 9th, 2017 at 11am. If desired, donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society Oxford and can be arranged through the funeral home.
