Doreen Anne Filko (Furber) was born on December 6th 1948 in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan and entered into eternal rest on February 14, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, Saskatchewan. Doreen was the daughter of Sydney and Constance Furber. She grew up with nine siblings in the community of Dubuc, Saskatchewan. She was united in marriage to William Filko on December 30, 1972 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. At that time they moved to the Hubbard district where they farmed and raised their family. In 2006 they moved to Ituna. Doreen enjoyed her time on the farm. She was always out feeding the chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese, picking eggs and milking cows. During harvest she would haul grain and take supper to the field. She was a great cook and homemaker. She loved to garden and grow flowers and always looked forward to a Sunday fishing trip with family and friends. Doreen’s children and grandchildren were a source of great joy for her. She loved spending time with them playing board games and cards when they came to visit. Doreen leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life her husband Willie of 42 years, her daughter Shari (Kevin) Rathgeber, three grandchildren Kyle, Cole and Ryan; her sisters Florence Gracey and Joan Hynds; brothers George Furber and James (Donna) Furber; sisters-in-law Wanda Smuk and Jeanette (Norm) Nuttall and many nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her son Dale Filko; her parents Sydney and Constance Furber; brothers Sydney, John, Bert and Fred Furber; sister Judy Fuber; her in-law-parents Peter and Rosie Filko; brothers-in-law Pat Gracey, Toddy Smuk and Bob Connors; and sister-in-law Patsy Connors.
